This site is dedicated to the photography of photojournalist and Magnum Photographer Burt Glinn during his residence in the Pacific Northwest. Mr. Glinn lived and worked in Seattle during the 1950's and 1960's. We proudly present highlights of Mr. Glinn’s Pacific Northwest and International photography.
Burt Glinn’s photojournalistic career and association with Magnum Photos span more than 60 years. He was one of the first Americans to become a member of Magnum Photos in 1951, along with Eve Arnold and Dennis Stock, acquiring full membership in 1954.
Self taught and resolutely freelance, Burt Glinn extensively photographed the Pacific Northwest while based in Seattle as a photographer for LIFE
magazine and shooting pictures for Holiday
Magazine and Magnum Photos. A prolific photographer, his social, political, and scientific essays taken throughout Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and California span more than 35 years .
